Dear Families and Carers

These last few weeks our staff and students are paying extra attention to what it means to be treated and to treat other with respect. We are learning an acronym to help us with taking action.

Remember

Every

Single

Person and place

Excels when we

Cultivate

Trust

We have been discussing what respect based on a culture of trust would like. We have talked about everyone having a role as a teacher and learner at school and being able to rely on each other to do our part. We have been talking about tone and how important that is when speaking. We have been talking about truth and how truth told and heard respectfully builds trust. We have been talking about tolerance and taking time to think before responding. Giving people the benefit of the doubt and not always jumping to conclusions.

Security Fence Activation

Thankyou to our families who have respectfully cooperated with staff as we change our routines.

Please remember- Carparks are not for pedestrians or bikeways. This has been communicated to all students and has been an expectation for many years. This is for the safety of our children.

Please only use the pedestrian gates when entering the school grounds before and after school. All visitors to the school site must enter via the school administration between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Drop off and Pick up Zone – School Road – Under the Fig Trees

This area is a hazard for the safety of our children. The brow of the hill coming up school road requires extra vigilance due to the crossing, carparks and pick up zone.

Please use the drop off and pick up zone as like a quick moving taxi rank.

Students should only be loading into the first car. If your child has not arrived by the time your car is at the front of the queue please continue around the block and queue again.

Do not leave your vehicle unless to assist your child into the vehicle.

2024 Class Groupings

The school leadership team and I are planning class configurations for 2024. Every year I receive requests from parents that these lists be published prior to the Christmas holidays and ideally, this would occur. For several years Yeronga State School has experienced ongoing enrolment growth and whilst recent facility upgrades have alleviated space in the upper school we still see enrolments coming in over the Christmas break impacting on class configurations and locations of classrooms. Class sizes are managed within the limits of 25 students per class in Prep to Year 3 and 28 students per class in Year 4 to 6. With the goal of a calm start to the year and avoiding redesignation of classes after the start of school, Yeronga State School will continue to publish 2024 Classes at the commencement of the school year.

If you have not informed the school office of your child’s intended departure from Yeronga State School in 2024 your earliest advice is very much appreciated.
