Habits towards improved happiness
This term I’ve so far encouraged you to firstly be generous, and secondly to have an attitude of gratitude. To continue with this theme of habits that help to build happiness, it may be timely to review your daily routines around diet, exercise, and sleep, to consider if they are supporting your health and wellbeing needs. Making small changes across any of these areas can make a significant impact on your ability to cope with life’s pressures, reduce stress, and enjoy life. Eating well supports your body to function well, boosts energy and immunity. Exercise releases oxygen and stimulates brain chemicals, helping combat health conditions and also improve your mood. Sleep is vital for maintaining brain function and energy to face your day, impacting thinking, learning, working, and relationships.
So don’t wait for the new year to make big, life-changing resolutions. Get started now to work towards increased happiness with small changes that improve your diet, include more physical exercise, or increased sleep. Consider easy ways to incorporate some high-value habits that will support you on this journey e.g. choose water instead of sugary drinks, make a weekly-meal plan, go to bed 15 minutes earlier each night, do some stretches while watching TV, or even dance around the house while doing your chores. Thank you for the donations towards the Gift Hamper Campaign, with enough goodies collected so far for three hampers. I’m hoping to hand out 12 hampers or more in the last weeks of the school term to Yeronga families who need a bit of cheer and encouragement. So please purchase a few extra items when you go grocery shopping next and bring them in to the baskets in the admin foyer. Donations should be non-perishable special foods items (not your usual pantry items), gifts (books, small toys, games, etc) and decorative items (decorations, serviettes, bon-bons, etc.).
