Deputy Principals' Report

Parent Teacher interviews marked the mid-way point of Term 3.  We would like to thank all families that attended the interviews to gain insight into curriculum learnings as well as student progression.  It was so lovely to see so many families engaged in conversation on the night.

Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Information Session

This week, students in years 3-6 attended the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Information Session.  Students learnt to Recognise or listen to their body’s clues. Body clues include: sweaty palms, nerves, feeling anxious or that feeling in your tummy when something just isn’t right.  Students learnt to React by running to a safe place such as school, home, or a pre-determined meeting place with your family. Students learnt to Report any concerns to a trusted adult. Students identified 5 trusted adults in their safety network to report any concerns to using a template of their hand.  You might like to do this at home too with the My safety network hand template

Students learnt to generalise these safety skills of Recognise, React and Report in an online environment too, where the message was clear to all children ‘If you don’t know them in the real world, you don’t know them online’.

The Daniel Morcombe webpage has some excellent resources and videos that you can use to talk about safety at home.
