Dear Families,

Currently our students are completing their Semester 2 assessments. Student Progress Reports will be emailed to parents on Wednesday Week 10. Whilst there are not parent teacher interview opportunities to discuss the reports at this time of year, if you do have any questions regarding your child’s results please email your class teacher ins the first instance.

On behalf of our teachers and our Head of Inquiry Clare Triggell, I extend a sincere thankyou to volunteer parents who are attending the ‘frog pond’ working bees and this valuable ecological site. This site is part of the Year 1 Inquiry Unit and an example of how real-life learning contexts engage learners in purposeful curriculum to effect positive change in the world.

Yeronga State School has historically presented Academic and Citizenship awards at the end of the academic year for Years 1-6. The Year 1-2 Awards will be awarded at the Year 1 and 2 Awards Ceremony on Thursday 1 December at 9.00am in the hall and the Year 3-6 and School Sports Awards on Friday 2 December. The Graduation Awards for School Dux, Graduate Student and Service Before Self Citizenship Awards will be awarded at the Year 6 Graduation Ceremony.

These awards are an important celebration of exemplary student achievement across the school.

The following awards will be awarded for each class and year level;

Academic Excellence Award (each class in Year 1-6)

Carla Walker Citizenship Award (each class in Year 1-6)

Learner Asset Awards (each class in Year 1-6)

Specialist Subject Awards-Visual Art, Health and PE, Spanish and Classroom Music Award (each year level in 1-6)

Sports Awards- Players of the Year and Champions of the Year (At Year 3-6 Awards Ceremony)

Music Awards – Spirit Awards and Players of the Year Awards (At Big Sing and Big Play)

Year 6 Graduand Awards and Trophies

The Big Sing and Big Play last Friday evening was a wonderful celebration. The calibre of our students is outstanding.  Congratulations to our exceptional teaching staff. Long term music staff changes (Robyn Rosewarne and Lauren Easey) and their work have been valiantly taken on by Tamsyn Eastgate, Alex Grodecki and Courtney Truce to an excellent standard. Congratulations to all students and to those students who were award the Spirit Award and Overall player award for the various categories.

We hope to see all parents and caregivers at our first whole school art exhibition. The exhibition will showcase the work of every student in the school. This has been an extraordinary effort on behalf of Jess Greenfield Art Teacher and her small team of supporters to prepare the works including the artist statements for the show. The art works are both democratic in that the voice and ideas of every student are valued as well as a show case of talent in the visual arts. Your support is appreciated as we aim to ensure all student enjoy the richness and value of a diversity of specialist subjects in their primary school years.
