Welcome back to an extremely busy and rewarding term.  Teachers are continuing their strong focus on teaching and learning, as well as our swimming lessons which are up and running for the whole school. As a school we are also planning for the many exciting events at the end of the year – swimming carnivals, awards ceremonies and Christmas concerts – the list is endless….

The weather is starting to warm up and it is important to remind our children to be ready for the warmer months by ensuring that students always have their school hat and full water bottle every day.

Student leadership 2023

Beginning next week, students in year 5 will embark on the nomination process for formal student leadership positions at Yeronga State School for 2023.  Student leadership is very important to us here at Yeronga, and we continue to refine the processes to ensure authentic and meaningful processes for students.  Please find below a link to the student leadership handbook.  Students will meet with Miss Kirk next week to hear about the positions and  nomination process. We encourage all students to be brave, and nominate for positions if they are interested in leading our great school in 2023.

ACTIVE SCHOOL TRAVEL DAY

Just a reminder that every Wednesday is Active School Travel Day.  Many of our students have been ‘out and about’ travelling actively to school, particularly on a Wednesday.  Just a reminder that children need to get their books stamped at the stamping stations by 8:45am, as our lovely senior students need to pack up the station and get back to class.  Thank you also to the parent/s that I saw helping at the Junior school stamping station this week.

NATURE PLAY YEAR 1 and PREP

The Nature Play in lower school has been reinstated after the building process of T block has come to an end.  There has been lots of excited and busy little people in this space during play times – it is a great space for imagination, collaboration and communication!! Just a gentle reminder, that this area is out of bounds in the morning before school as there are no teachers on duty in this space.  If you could remind your children of this that would be greatly appreciated. 

PREP 2023 FESTIVITIES

A huge thank you to our current Prep teachers!! They have been assisting in the prep interviews with our new prep children – this is where we welcome and get to know new and returning families to our Yeronga learning community.  Over the next two weeks, we will embark on seeing the Prep 2023 children in their early education setting – this aims to provide a successful transition to ‘big school’.

• Also the cut off for the 2023 Class Allocation process is next Friday 14 October.

So much planning to be completed in the next 8 weeks – exciting times ahead.
