INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC RECRUITMENT FOR 2023
In Term 3 the recruitment process will begin for any current Year 2 and 3 students who are interested in joining the Strings or Band program in 2023.
Students are only allowed to participate in either Strings- violin, viola, cello and bass OR Band – brass, woodwind and percussion (beginning in Year 4).
Students are expected to commit and continue in the program throughout their primary school years.
The recruitment process for both year levels is a three-step process:
- Aural and rhythm testing – strong aural and rhythm skills are beneficial when learning a musical instrument
- Evening Parent Information Session
- Physical testing – under the supervision of the instrumental music teachers, students try out the instruments available to ascertain their physical capability to hold and produce sound on the instruments.
The Instrumental Music teachers also consider observations made by class/specialist teachers when offering students a place in the Instrumental Music Program.
The aural testing stage will occur for all Year 2 and 3 students in the first few weeks of term 3. The parent information session and physical testing stages will occur later in term 3. Please keep your eyes out for more information on these two stages via the school newsletter and emails from the school.

PARENT CAFÉ MUSIC PERFORMANCES
We’ve had some strings students braving the cold to perform background music for families at the Parent Café on Tuesdays from 8:30am outside the year 1 building. The String Quartet have impressed parents with their two performances at the cafe and keep an eye out for more performances from other students in future weeks!
