Deputy Principal's Report

It’s been a term full of learning, curiosity and creativity at Yeronga State School.  It is wonderful to walk around the school and see the children so engaged in their learning.  The children have been using their learning assets this term to compliment the content of the Australian Curriculum.  The children at Yeronga are learning how to be great Communicators, Collaborators, Self-Managers, Thinkers and Researchers!

Active School Travel - Let's get Active!

A huge thank you to the Active School Travel leaders who are helping stamp the passports every Wednesday.  They are growing in confidence with their Self Manager skills and also their Communicator Learning Asset Skills.  A huge thank you also is dedicated to Bikeman Stu who ensures that he rides the attached route to school every Wednesday – so come and join him.  Another thank you goes out to the teachers who are walking to school every Wednesday from the designated spot – let us see how many students we can get at the walking and riding point.

Special events this term are:

  • Walk or ride to school with the AST trains to receive a lucky dip prize
  • Receive a raffle ticket to go into the scooter and helmet voucher prize – drawn on assembly the last week of school

Lost Property

As the weather is starting to turn cool we are finding jumpers and jackets are starting to make their way into the lost property containers.  Some of these jumpers and jackets are not named.  As these items of clothing are expensive to replace, please ensure that your child’s name is on his/her clothing in order to have them returned.

DISCO

Come and join us on the night of Thursday 27 June for the Student Council Disco. The Prep- Yr 2 Disco is being held from 5- 6pm and the Year 3- Year 6 Disco is on from 6.30-8.00pm. It will cost $5 for entry to the disco, which students will need to pay at the door when they arrive. Parents will need to drop students at the door and then the doors to the hall will be opened at the end of the disco for parents to come in and collect children. There will be school staff here to supervise the disco. The theme for the disco is Celebrities/ Famous People. There will be prizes for the best dressed boy and the best dressed girl.

We hope to see you there!
