P&C Report
So excited for the FETE - THIS Saturday, 22 May!
As the excitement mounts for the YSS biennial Fete THIS Saturday, 22 May, we acknowledge the outstanding effort and organisation of our Fete Convenor, Juliet Brooks, and each and every member of the Fete Committee. For the past 18 months this exceptionally dedicated and talented team has been volunteering their time to ensure the YSS 150th Fete is a day to remember.
Please see Juliet's Fete/150th report and newsletter above to ensure you have all you need to fully enjoy the Fete. A big THANK YOU to our whole school community for your support as volunteers, teachers, donors and sponsors to make the Fete a celebration of all that is great about our school.
A couple of key highlights and reminders ahead of the day:
- Stall volunteers - if you haven't already please sign up to help on a stall (many hands make light work and we need YOU :-) - the Fete Committee has cut down the number of stalls that need volunteers to spread the load and increase enjoyment of the day).
- Buy and sell raffle tickets - be in it to WIN an amazing array of prizes. Please share the online raffle link to family, friends and social media so as many as possible have the chance too!
- Bake stall donations - This Fete favourite relies on donations from our school community. Please let the stall convenors know what you'd like to bring and the packaging you'll need via the Bake Stall Survey (all donations gratefully accepted, even if you don't complete the survey, but it's helpful if you do). Most of all, we wish you and our whole school community a fantastically fun Fete day!
Soccer (football) lessons - now offered after school!
In response to requests for extracurricular football (soccer) lessons at school, the P&C is pleased to partner with RISE Sports to offer a new football program which kicked off in week 4 - children can be enrolled at any time. The program covers skill development and match experience in a fun and friendly environment, including 5v5 matches, mini games and much more. Classes will be held Monday to Thursday afternoon straight after school until 4:15pm on the Prep Oval (corner of School and Park Road). To enrol or find out more head to: www.rise.com.au/rise-football/.
Please ensure you enrol your child/ren to enable the RISE team to structure the lessons to each child’s age and ability. For the full range of extracurricular activities offered for YSS children visit: www.yerongasspandc.org.au/index.php/extracurricular/
Mother's Day stall thank you
Thank you to our whole school community for donating such a lovely array of gifts for our children to buy for their mums and special people in their lives. This is a favourite activity for our community and any funds raised are a bonus. Every child in the school was able to select a gift on 7 May and - for the icing on the cake - our generous community raised a record $2,277.15 to support our school. A huge thank you to Kristen Jennings for doing another fabulous job coordinating the stall, and to families who donated and bought gifts, to the teachers who brought their classes to the stall in the hall, and to the mums who volunteered on the stall to help the kids pick the perfect gifts.
P&C meeting: Tuesday, 15 June
Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday, 15 June, at 7.00pm. You are invited to the Resource Centre (Library) to hear what is going on in the school community and will be among the first to hear the results of the 2021 Fete! All welcome.
YOSHC leadership changes
Former YOSHC Manager Elizabeth Fainga'a resigned and worked her last day in the service on Friday, 23 April. While appreciating that this news was unexpected, we are in the fortunate position to have three Assistant Managers who will ably lead YOSHC moving forward:
- Cate Jordinson - Assistant Manager, Inclusion Support
- Stephanie McCarthy - Assistant Manager, Operations and Staffing
- Kate Regnault - Assistant Manager, Program and Practice.
Cate is a familiar face at YOSHC who has worked in the service for 4 years, including as Acting YOSHC Manager from October 2020 to February, 2021. Stephanie started at YOSHC in March this year bringing with her 20 years' experience in Human Resource Management and recent experience in an early childhood care setting. Kate joined the YOSHC team on Tuesday, 27 April, and is enjoying putting into practice her 10 years' teaching and curriculum development experience further developing our educational program.
The team is working with the peak body for OSHC services in Queensland, QCAN (Queensland Children's Activities Network) to position YOSHC for successful growth and welcomes communication and feedback from parents, carers and families. To contact the leadership team please email manager@yoshc.com.
