Mothers Day Stall: Back in 2021 – 7 May – Call for donations

We are delighted to announce the return of our much loved Mother's Day stall on 7 May after a hiatus last year due to the covid lockdown.

The stall will be held on Friday 7 May. In preparation we ask each child to please bring in a gift for the stall (of approximately $5 in value). This should be handed in to the classroom teacher as soon as possible. It is the wonderful variety of donated gifts that makes our stall so special, a little like a giant lucky dip for our children choosing a gift for their mums and special adults.
If you don’t have time to shop, you are welcome to make a $5 donation to the stall - sealed in an envelope marked Mother’s Day Stall and placed into the P&C Payment Box in the Grade 1 building, or hand in to the Tuckshop or YOSHC office - so P&C volunteers can go shopping on your behalf. On the day of the stall students can then purchase a special gift from the stall for $3. Please email Kristen at kristenmjennings@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to help on the stall.

Term 2 Tuckshop update

In response to community feedback the Tuckshop team has introduced some great new menu items, including gluten free and vegan options:
  • gluten free pies, sausage rolls and pizza
  • vegan chick pea and cous cous salad
  • spaghetti bolognaise.
A new Celebration Class Bucket of icy poles will also be available to order from week 2 to make it easy for families to provide a special treat for their children's class for celebrations like birthdays. These can be ordered via Flexischools (underneath frozen items).
To keep pace with the rising cost of ingredients and menu items, there will also be some small price increases added to several menu items in term 2. The P&C aims to ensure the Tuckshop menu is affordable for our community and our wonderful volunteers help to keep costs as low as possible. Our last price increase was early 2019 and the new prices will ensure the Tuckshop continues as a sustainable service for our community. 
The Tuckshop is open Tuesday (still trialling in term 2) to Friday and orders can be made via Flexischools (orders close 8.00am) or at the Tuckshop counter until 9.00am.

Uniform Shop opening times: Change during public holiday weeks

Due to the public holidays over the next 2 weeks the Uniform Shop will be open on the below alternative days:
  • Monday 26th April - Closed Public Holiday
  • Tuesday 27th April - Open - 2.30pm - 3.30pm
  • Monday 3rd May - Closed Public Holiday
  • Tuesday 4th May - Open - 2.30pm - 3.30pm.
The usual Uniform Shop opening times are:
  • Monday 8.30am to 9.30am
  • Thursday 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Winter items available in Uniform Shop

As we head into the cooler months the Uniform Shop stocks a range of winter items to keep children warm. These are available in standard navy blue fleece and YSS branded microfiber, and can be ordered through Flexischools for classroom delivery or bought at the Uniform Shop.

    P&C funds timpani drums for instrumental music program

    At the P&C's Special General Meeting on 25 March members voted to support the purchase of two timpani drums for the instrumental music program. Costing up to $10,800 these special drums will add depth and balance to the school ensembles, enhancing the quality of the band program and also the repertoire available for ensembles for at least the next 20-plus years. The drums will also support percussion students to meet their learning and assessment guidelines set out by Education Qld Instrumental Music Curriculum and prepare them for high school music. We can't wait to see and hear the drums in action at school band performances!

    Next P&C meeting  

    Our next P&C meeting will be held in the Resource Centre (library) on Tuesday, 18 May, at 7:00pm. This is just four days before the Fete so no doubt there will be lots of exciting Fete discussion and last minute details to be shared. We look forward to seeing you there.
