Chappy's Chat
Welcome back to term 2
Last term ended abruptly, but I still managed to squeeze in the Chappy Week Treasure Hunt before the lockdown commenced! Thank you for your support once again in my fundraising efforts. Let’s hope we have a great term ahead with limited interruptions, and that all our regular activities that are planned go ahead as scheduled.
This term I am facilitating the “Friends for Life” program with all year 4 classes, helping students to develop further skills in friendship and dealing with anxiety. It is a great program and timely given that year 4 camp is early next term. I will also help the Year 6 Bridge Builders to get up and running, so that they can support staff in the junior school during playtime.
Setup for Success
It’s never too late to put practices in place that will help your family cope with the demands of school. One practice that I find many families struggle with is keeping a routine around sleep and bedtime. Children’s Health Qld recommend that school-aged children have between 9-11 hours of sleep each night. That means if wake-up time is 7am, bed-time could be as early as 7:30pm. A regular routine will make it easier to manage the ongoing battle of going to bed. I encourage each family to create their own routine that works for them, and that includes time for doing chores, cleaning teeth, reading, cuddles and lights out at the agreed set time.
