Fete and 150th
Fete news
Excitement mounts as plans for our 2021 YSS Fete on 22 May are rapidly taking shape. A massive THANK YOU to the Fete Committee that has been working for more than a year to bring this terrific community building and fundraising activity to fruition. To be the first to hear the latest Fete news, please like and follow the Yeronga State School Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/yerongastateschoolfete/, and tag your friends!
Special thanks to our major Fete sponsors for your support, including:
- Lauren McHutchison Property - Platinum sponsor
- Brisbane Prestige Plunge Pools - Fireworks sponsor
- Motorama Kia Moorooka - Gold sponsor.
The Fete team is finalising sponsorships so if you or a business you know would like to become a sponsor or prize donor please email yssfete@gmail.com or visit https://yerongass150.com/call-for-sponsors/ for more information.
Fete levy payments ($10) can now be made via Flexischools (a big time saver and much appreciated support), and the YSS Garden Club is seeking all types of plants - big, small, edible, succulent, in full bloom or a bit sad and in need of care - to get into fine form ready to sell at the Fete. Please pop any plants you would like to donate on the picnic table at the garden club (near the Tuckshop and old dental building) and Garden Club green thumbs will take care of them until Fete day.
Stall class allocations:
The different stall sign-up sheets are now open and ready to accept volunteering help. With lots of parents at the school, if everyone can give an hour (or two) of their time, everyone should be have ample time to still enjoy the fete. There is a stall allocation per class as a guide to make volunteering choices easier. If you have skills that might be better utilised at another stall, you can certainly volunteer at a stall that isn’t allocated to your child’s class. For example, if you know the fine art of spinning fairy floss, feel free to sign up at the floss stall. Other stalls where specific skills would be helpful are Crazy hair, Soft serve ice cream, and photographers / videographers on the day.
Click here: https://signup.com/go/dxjNQMR to find all of the stall and volunteering opportunities.
The school performance program for the day will be released very soon to help you time your volunteering around performances.
Fete children’s performance program:
The kids performances are so special, you won’t want to miss them. See when your child is performing so you can plan your volunteering spots accordingly.
Class allocations for stalls:
Second hand stall donations
Next Pre-loved items collection day direct to the container. This Sunday 28thMarch, 9am – 11am.

Commemorative book
The team is currently busy laying out the 150th commemorative book which will be a coffee table style book full of history, memories, pictures and fun facts about our great school. We are hoping to have these ready to physically purchase at the fete. Pre-orders are available if you would like to secure a copy and save some money at the same time!
Head to https://yss150shop.square.site/ to pre-order your copy today (and maybe grab your ride armbands at the same time!)
**We would greatly appreciate any input from parents with graphic design skills in InDesign that we could add as collaborators who could help make the book pop! Please contact admin@yerongass150.com if you can help at all.
ANZAC day ceremony
The ANZAC day ceremony on Friday the 23rd of April is the next 150th event on the calendar. Guests will be able to join us to pay respect to the ANZACs in what has become an esteemed Yeronga State School tradition. Following the ceremony, guests can go on a self-guided walking tour of the school and learn some interesting facts about the history of the school.
A morning tea for invited special guests will be held. Any help with morning tea donations would be greatly appreciated. A sign up sheet is available if you would like to help. https://signup.com/go/ToAcwOQ
Thanks and best,
