Chappy's Chat
This year’s Harmony Day on the 18th March will again be full of colour with a flag procession representing 86 different cultural backgrounds and the many faces of our school families. It is such an important part of our school calendar, as we celebrate our differences, but recognise that we can come together in unity, and work in harmony as we focus on the educational outcomes of our children.
Each year level will also be contributing a performance to the assembly that has a theme of “Peace in the World”. The Junior Choir will be singing at Junior Assembly, while Senior Choir will perform at both assemblies. Students are able to wear clothes that reflect the national dress or costume of their families heritage if available, or alternatively wear a solid orange-coloured t-shirt, ribbons or socks. It must be stressed that this is not a free dress day, and the formal uniform should be worn if no cultural costume or orange shirt is available.
Junior Assembly will be held at 9:30am and Senior Assembly at 1:50pm. Parents are welcome to attend, although social distancing of 1.5m is still a requirement, and therefore there is a limited number of people that can fill our small hall. Visitors are encourage to bring/wear a facemask if unable to socially distance.
The Yeronga Community Centre is hosting Harmony Day activities on Friday March 19th from 9:00am-11:30am including Nia Dance Classes, Spanish Card games, Paint-A-Pot (and take a plant home) and Anzac biscuit making, with morning tea provided. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Welfare Support
I am in contact with many agencies who want to help families in need. If you require support of any kind, please let me know. In particular, if you would appreciate regular food hampers, I can help.
