Chappy's Chat
Thankyou for the wonderful response to Chappy Pancakes, as over $600 was raised towards my welfare program to help Yeronga SS families. I’ve never seen the queue like it! I’m so sorry if you missed out on a pancake. The Chaplaincy Committee will be discussing and working out a way forward for next time.
Envelopes have been sent home this week for term 1 Sub and Drink Meal Deal. This year the lunch has moved to a Monday, as tuckshop is open now on a Tuesday. If you missed out on an envelope, you can write your order on an envelope, or print the attached form. Please return your order to the green collection bins in the library (not the office) by Thursday 9am. It is a tight turnaround.
Harmony Day is a wonderful celebration that our school embraces. This year we will celebrate it on the 18th March with two assemblies including the emotional flag procession in each, recognising all the countries that our school families represent. Letters went home this week with students selected to carry a flag. In the lead up to Harmony Day (in just 3 weeks), I am trying to make 1000 origami paper cranes with students. If you have any spare origami paper that you would like to donate, it would be much appreciated!
Each week, I have a “Question of the Week” for the community, and it opens up lots of great discussions between students and staff, including me. Last week’s question was “What are you planning to do better this year?”. It is now two months into the new year, and if you had any resolutions, they would be either broken and forgotten, or cemented into new habits and routines for your life. Even if you haven't been able to quite manage the changes you were hoping for, it's never too late to refresh your expectations, set some new goals, make a plan, ask for help, and work to do better for yourself. Go for it!
