Healthy Life Coping Strategies
At the beginning of the Covid pandemic in Australia, I encouraged the school community to implement practices through this season that would help maintain and improve our mental health, as well as positively impact those around us. Even though restrictions are now easing, families are still vulnerable and being impacted by ongoing issues as a result of this season. So I just wanted to encourage you again to continue taking steps to be strong physically, mentally and emotionally that will help you and your family cope and lead towards a healthy life. Some considerations to think about include:
- Developing good routines around work, play and sleep
- Finding ways to continue to connect with friends and family despite physical distancing
- Making time to relax and enjoying some self-care
- Having a break away from screens
- Exercising daily, eating healthy, and drinking lots of water
- Limiting alcohol consumption
- Connecting or reconnecting with community groups and/or faith based organisations
- Seeking professional support or help from friends and family
Financial Assistance
St Vincent de Paul is offering financial assistance to families who have lost a significant proportion of their income because of Covid, helping with back to school assistance of uniforms, stationery, levies and other learning resources in 2021. Vinnies would like to connect with you this year in preparation for next year, so please email or come and see me for more information, or call the Vinnies Helpline (1800VINNIE = 1800 846 643).
