Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers

I would like to begin with a big thank you to Chappie Jen and the team from Hope Centre for the amazing job that has been completed on the ‘dots’ and the handball courts. Also, thank you to Sue and her volunteers for the many hours put into finishing the fence people. The school environment is richer for these initiatives.

"Our School, Your Village".

There is wide recognition that schools are an integral part of our communities and that each school reflects the diversity of the community it operates within. In fact in some places the school is the lynch pin of the community. The examples above highlight the connections between school and community.

Year 5 Camp

Last week, the Year 5 cohort, accompanied by their teachers, Miss Brown, Mrs Paynter and myself were on camp. Currumbin Valley camp provide excellent opportunities for student to step out of their comfort zone, try new things and work collaboratively in a team. We were fortunate with the great weather, the pristine surrounding and the professional camp staff. All these factors, enabled the students to enjoy a fabulous experience. It was a pleasure to see groups work together like well-oiled cogs. Ask your children about the analogy to hogs, logs and cogs. Well done Year 5.

Student Leadership 2021

The Year 5 students were given a briefing on the roles and the process. The nominations forms are available and must be back by 29 October. Organisation and punctuality are important attributes for the leadership positions. The information package was emailed to parents this week.
