Responding to Current Affairs
It’s been difficult to watch what has been happening across the world in recent weeks, and it is even more challenging to know how to respond. For my own benefit, I’ve been reading and listening to some great speakers for ideas on how to move forward, and how we as individuals can contribute to make the world a better place. Here are some ideas…
- Love your family fiercely, helping your children to develop their own sense of identity value, and purpose
- Strive for harmony, but embrace and celebrate diversity
- Have courage to speak up for injustice when you see it happening in front of you
- Show mercy and forgiveness towards others who might have done something that has caused you harm or distress
- Have empathy for others, realising that we all have a different story
- Respect others even though they are different, knowing that we are all valued and loved.
- Reach out to the hurting and needy, sharing from your own resources and abilities
- Be friendly and kind
- Be a positive role-model to your family and community
We aren’t all called to be world leaders, but we can make a difference in our homes, and then in our community. “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful” – Malala Yousafzai.
