Chappy's Chat
Welcome to term 2!
It is such a strange season for us all, with most of us in isolation and working from home. And with that, there are so many uncertainties and challenges, but for some families there could be significant points of crisis. So please let me know if there is something I can do to help, or if I can make referrals to community organisations and support services for you. Contact me through the school office, or email me directly at jenniferb@chappy.org.au I am here to help.
I also have something special for our children – a student version of Chappy’s Chat. To stay connected and engaged with students, each week they can listen to me read a story, and then complete an activity sheet inspired by the story. The activities include: something creative, something physical, something to connect, and something to think about. I also encourage students to contact me via email with questions, photos and comments.
While there are so many difficulties and challenges, I would encourage you to find some positives that have come out of this time. Staying positive, despite all the negatives, will help your own mental health and wellbeing, and rub off on those around you. Here’s some things to consider if you aren’t already onto it:
- Stay connected, particularly to those who are most important to you
- Find ways to keep up physical activity
- Start a gratitude journal and focus on the good things in your life
- Have fun with your family, finding ways to have a laugh
- Eat well for your own health and wellbeing
- Have some “me” time doing something that helps you to feel energised, refreshed and lifted up
- Seek help if you aren’t coping
Blessings,
Jennifer Bennett
