IMPORTANT INFORMATION -CHICKENPOX CASES
We have been advised that there have been some cases of Chickenpox in our school community. Please find below information regarding Chickenpox as issued by the Department of Health.
Signs and Symptoms:
The disease starts with cold-like symptoms such as a mild fever, headache, runny nose and cough. A day or two later a rash begins, starting as small pink blotches but rapidly progressing to itchy blisters which usually last three to four days before drying out and turning into scabs.
Transmission:
Chickenpox is spread through coughing, sneezing and direct contact with the fluid in the blisters of the rash. The dry scabs are not infectious. An individual with Chickenpox is infectious for about one to two days before the onset of the rash and until the blisters have all scabbed, usually four to five days.
Exclusion from School (if infected):
Exclude until all blisters have dried. This is usually at least five days after the rash first appeared in non-immunised children, and less in immunised children.
If you suspect that your child has Chickenpox please advise the school office.
Yeronga SS is now Cashless in 2020
As Yeronga continues to grow the office does it’s best to make changes to ensure parents can conveniently pay for excursions/incursion is the most efficient way possible. This means as of this year (2020) Yeronga will no longer be accepting cash payments.
Our methods of payments will be via BPoint or Qparents.
To pay via BPoint you will find all the needed details at the bottom of every invoice. All invoices are emailed to parents and will come from the email address rbenn127@eq.edu.au.
Qparents is another great way to pay your invoices as well as track what you have paid and what is still outstanding. If you do not have access to Qparents please contact the office as soon as possible and we will be able to set you up with an invitation.
Payments - Incursions & Excursions
Thank you to all the Year 4 parents who have paid for the Year 4 Big Bang incursion that will be held on Monday 3 February.
We would like to make all families aware that if the invoice for Big Bang has not been paid in full by Friday (tomorrow) your student may not be able to attend the incursion. Other arrangements will be made for them during the incursion time.
QParents - Invitations
To all parents who do not have access to QParents. Next week we will arrange for invitations to QParents to be sent to families who currently do not have access to the system.
Please note: Initial set up must be done on a desk top and not a mobile device or ipad. You will need 100 points of ID to complete the registration. If you do not have that please complete what you can and the school will be able to help complete the rest.
If you have any questions or need support please email nlang67@eq.edu.au.
Communication through SZapp
Yeronga communicates extensively through the SZapp, we encourage all parents to download this free app. If you do not have this on mobile device yet please download and follow the instructions below to get access to this handy app.
If you already use the SZapp please don't forget to update your notifications. Your students will be in a new year level group and may now be involved in music and other activites. Below is where you can change your notification groups. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the office.
