P&C Meeting - Tuesday, 15 October
We are now on the home stretch of the year and still have some great sharing and planning ahead and next P&C Meeting NEXT Tuesday 15 October in the Resource Centre (Library) at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend. This will be the second last P&C meeting for the year and we'd love to see you there.
World Teachers' Day - 25 October
Our school will celebrate World Teacher's Day on Friday, 25 October. This is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for our teachers by providing a morning tea for them on this day.
The P&C invite you to contribute to the morning tea by donating a plate of sweet or savoury food, which you can drop at the Senior School Staff Room between 8:00-9:00am on the 25th. We have created an online sign up - please click on this link to indicate what you will bring. Thank you in advance for celebrating the amazing job our teachers do at Yeronga State School. Grillex promotion - help us win new seating for the grade 1 playground
Yeronga State School has entered the Grillex school makeover competition in an effort to win new seating to make our new grade 1 playground area more comfortable and appealing, and to encourage kids and families to connect.
The competition ends at 5pm on 29 November and you can help us win by submitting your own entry for Yeronga State School - the more entries from our school, the greater chance we have of winning. It only takes a moment and below is some wording to help with some inspiration. You are welcome to edit, amend and be creative!
We really need new seating around our grade 1 playground to facilitate community building between children and families. The space is very open and exposed around the playground where parents wait for their kids to finish school. We have one buddy bench in the area for children to show they would like to play with others. Extra seating will enable more children to meet and will support community building between parents and children through offering a more comfortable place for parents to connect and supervise their children before and after school. We will be forever grateful to Grillex for enhancing these important connections for our children and community.

There are two ways we can all boost YSS's chances of winning:
- Grillex recommends getting together some creative students to design our outdoor make-over, and sending their design/s with a photo of space we wish make-over to win@grillex.com.au

Air conditioning
We are proud to confirm that all YSS classrooms are now air conditioned, thanks to the support of our terrific school community and Chris McHutchison who worked over the September/October school holidays with his team to install air conditioning into classrooms for our kids in grades 1, 2 and 3. This is a tremendous achievement for our entire school community and we sincerely thank everyone who has made this possible. May our children and teachers enjoy much more comfortable classrooms when the summer heat hits!
