Yeronga Wunya

Anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, Mabo Day & Reconciliation Week, Sorry Day

Reconciliation Week is held every year between 27 May – 3 June. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June and this year that is just following our Yeronga School Fete. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

More information about Reconciliation can be found here: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/national-reconciliation-week/

and about Sorry Day held on 26th May here: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/150520-Sorry-Day.pdf

Dont forget to come and say hello to our newly formed Indigenous working group at our Yeronga School Fete stall called 'Kalari' (meaning message stick in Jagera language).
