Green Team Report

Beauty Products Recycling NOW CLOSED

Thank you so much to all those people who have donated beauty products to our Terracycle recycling program over the past year.  Unfortunately this program has now closed, so we won't be collecting any more products.

Battery Recycling

We are however still collecting all household batteries, old phones and cords in the big purple bin in the library.  Collect them in your tiny purple bin at home (distributed to all families last year) and when it's full bring them in to the big bin to keep precious metals and dangerous chemicals out of landfill.

FINALISTS: Brisbane City Council Cleaner Suburbs Awards

That's right, the Yeronga State School Green Team have been selected as finalists in the Clean Schools Awards category.  Please follow the link to vote for us (most votes wins) and share the link with as many people as possible.  You don't have to live in Brisbane to vote!

Bread Tags for Wheelchairs

Collect those pesky bread tags that can't be recycled and bring them into the library.  Instead of sitting in landfill, they will now be sent to Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs.  These bread tags will be sold for recycling and the money will be used to buy wheelchairs for those in need in South Africa where the project originated.  (WIN-WIN) https://www.facebook.com/aussiebreadtags/

Lids 4 Kids

Collect all those milk bottle, soft drink and water bottle lids and send them to a good cause, instead of landfill.  Lids 4 Kids shreds the plastic from these lids and transforms them into prosthetic limbs for kids in need.  Please collect at home, bringing them in when they are CLEAN, with the white inner lining removed. https://www.facebook.com/groups/466584883913904/
