Friday 9^th of August marks the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples which promotes and protect the rights of the world's Indigenous population. There are estimated 370 Million Indigenous peoples across the world who speak an overwhelming majority of the world’s estimated 7,000 languages and represent 5,000 different cultures.

We would like acknowledge those families and friends of Yeronga State School who come from these communities and contribute to the rich diversity of our school.

In keeping with this year’s global theme of Indigenous Peoples’ Languages we would like share a Yuggera Word of the Week: Friend  - Yuingin (You-in-gin)
