Gala Day Season 1 Wrap-up
Gala Day Season One Wrap-up
A big congratulations to all the students and staff that participated in Gala Day season one. We had 173 students from Years 5 and 6 play across Teeball, Basketball and Soccer. Also, a big thank you to the Yeronga High School students that volunteered to help officiate games.
Boys A Soccer Teams
The Junior and Senior A Boys soccer teams had another great day playing at Sunnybank Hills State School. Like Gala Day One the games were only 12 minutes long but they proved to be very entertaining. It was fantastic to see the improvement in both teams over the day. The final results have not been released the boys are hoping they have done enough to win the premierships.
Senior Boys: 4 Wins & 2 Draws
Junior Boys: 3 Wins & 2 Draws
Girls Soccer Gala Day
Huge congratulations to all the Girl’s Soccer teams who played in the final Gala day. We were a few players down so a big thanks to Cassie, Charlie and Ellia who played in different teams on the day to ensure everyone got a run. Great team spirit girls!
6A had a great day, playing one game for points (2-0) and the rest friendlies (0-1, 2-0, 3-0). They were really supportive of each other and had a plan for each game- it was great to see their teamwork and camaraderie. Well done girls!
Our 6B1 and 6B2 teams were very impressive! Being down in numbers and having no subs meant it was a long 25 minutes of game but spirits were high and everyone gave it their all. Most importantly we had a lot of fun and showed great sportsmanship.
6B1- 0-2, 1-1, 1-1, 2-1 6B2- 1-1, 4-0, 0-1, 0-1
5A dominated on every field and came away with the pennant! Their teamwork was unrivalled, their determination clear- they came to win and they succeeded. Looking forward to seeing them continue into the SEQ Cup! Final scores: 6-0, 3-0, 8-0, 8-0. Amazing job team!
5B showed some great teamwork and excellent sportsmanship in every game as they faced the field with no subs and taking on some positions they’d never done before. No one gave up and played their best game all the way up to the final whistle. A few losses this round, but a lot of fun was had and we learnt a lot from the experience. Can’t wait until next year! (1-4, 1-3, 0-4)
Tee ball Wrap for 2025
A huge congratulations the year 6 boys tee ball team who won the premiership! There was some fierce competition from the other teams, but the Yeronga boys held their nerve, bonded as a team and played amazingly to reign supreme. Well done!!! Also, very big thankyou to our wonderful teacher aide, Alisha who kept them calm and focussed over the gala days.
Congratulations to the year 5 girls tee ball team who came in 2nd place. A super effort with Mr Quirk guiding them ably. Looking forward to the 2026 competition where I am sure the girls continue to be equally competitive.
Finally, well done to the year 5 boys whose skills, team work and efforts saw them win several games too. I was very impressed with their improved batting and fielding.
