Positivity Strategy
In a recent Harvard Mental Health Letter “In Praise of Gratitude”, it talks about how expressing thanks may be one of the simplest ways to feel better, and that the research shows “that gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness”. Practicing gratitude is a great strategy to help boost positivity, and cultivates awareness and appreciation of the good times and the good things in your life. It will help you to find joy, give you a greater connection to your family and friends, and help you to cope through tough times.
Feeling grateful naturally will happen at times, but you can also increase those feelings through regular reflection and intentionality. Start a journal or write down a simple statement on a piece of paper to collect in a gratitude jar (it makes a great read when you’re feeling down). Express gratitude to someone in your life, verbally or through a thankyou note, or share around the dinner table some grateful moments from your day. Prayer and meditation will also help to cultivate gratitude. Explore the different ideas, and find what works for you.
