Principal News

Dear Families,
This is the last formal newsletter for the year. Any further messages for the school community will come via Schoolzine or direct email.
To all our families who are leaving us this year, I trust you take with you many happy memories and assurance your child has had a great education at Yeronga State School. Several of our families who have had a longstanding relationship with Yeronga will have their last child leaving Year 6 this year, thankyou for your partnership over many years and all the very best for the future.
To our valued staff who are leaving us this year, thankyou for your dedicated service to the children and families of Yeronga. Mr Henry, Ms Mc Ginn, Ms Elcome and Ms Shanahan thank you for your great teaching and may your next chapter be as rewarding. You remain one of the YSS family. Please take the time to say a special goodbye to our departing staff. We look forward to welcoming returning staff and new staff in the new year.
School returns for students on Tuesday 28 January, 2025 and for teachers on Wednesday 22 January. Please look out for messages regarding book packs and uniform shop opening hours and Schoolzine/email communications regarding the start of school year operations.
This year we are trialling publishing the coming year Class Lists prior to the close of the school year. Parents will receive an email from Asmaa in the office notifying them of their child’s class on Wednesday 11 December (last Wednesday of term). Yeronga State School enrolment numbers have stabilised with less students moving over the summer break period. This places us in a position to predict active enrolments for the start of the next year. I trust this is a welcomed change to this process for our students and families.
I have had several emails concerning the change to the Year 4-6 swimming carnival format. Please be assured the Swimming Carnival will occur during Term 1 from hereon in. A Swim Meet will continue to be held in Term 4 for qualifying students. School staff are organising the logistics of the new Term Swim Carnival format at present. Please be assured the focus of this event will be inclusivity, participation and fun for all students.
A final word from me;
Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Enjoy the summer break with your children and loved ones. Life is short and childhood precious. Make the time and take the time to enjoy them.
Yours in education,
Eunice Webb
Principal
