 LOGISTICS & ARRIVALS:

**Unfortunately, due to the size of the ensembles performing, we will not be able to stay and watch the other session/s on these evenings.

It would be helpful to remind students to remain quiet during all performances and wait quietly until they are instructed to move.

Senior Choir:
1. This is the second heat of Section 9. We will receive an email on Friday 24 May advising which ensembles are invited to the finals evening the following Thursday 30 May at St Peters Lutheran College.

 2. Arrival time: Thursday 23 May (Senior Choir) SESSION 2: from 630pm and no later than 6:45pm.

YSS Choirs will meet at the Set down loop at Gate 1

3. A QYMA ensemble liaison helper will meet us and show the choir to our designated audience seating where students can place any belongings. Please ensure that students only bring essential and minimal belongings with them.

4. Our ensemble will have time and a private space to warm up before our performance where we will then be collected from our room to walk on stage.

Junior Choir

1. The sections are being run as straight finals, with adjudication, trophy and prize money awarded at the end of the section

2. Arrival time: from 515pm and no later than 5:30pm.

YSS Choirs will meet at the Set down loop at Gate 1

3. A QYMA ensemble liaison helper will meet you on arrival and show you to your designated audience seating. Please ensure that your students only bring essential and minimal belongings with them.

4. Our MC for the evening will run all groups (and parents) through a massed warm up in the room to avoid our younger students having to move around - there will be no individual warm ups.

Senior and Junior Choir

5. After the section has been completed, the MC will hold the audience and ensembles will go straight to their coaches or outside to be collected by parents. We will meet parents at the collection point as told on the night for student collection. Please see a Teacher/Helper prior to leaving the venue.

TICKETS:

Parents/friends:  all seating is general admission and tickets can be purchased through the QYMA website using Humanitix ticketing portal (Please remember that we are the second session for the Senior Choir evening).  Tickets are $15* for adults (over 18) & $10* children (under 18) - performers are free.  *plus Humanitix fees.

PARKING:

There is no on-site parking.  Attendees are encouraged to find parking in the Hancock Street Carpark (information for this carpark can be found HERE), or Secure Parking Southpoint at South Bank. We encourage parents to carpool/use public transport/find a lift as much as possible.

Entry to the auditorium is at GATE 6 via the stairs or lift (see campus map above). It is recommended that schools gather at the Student Set Down Loop at Gate 1, as this is an easier drop-off point for parents.

YSS Choirs will meet at the Set down loop at Gate 1

PROGRAM:

The program will not be printed - QR codes will be available at the door for people to download the program.

If you have any queries / concerns please contact the QYMA Team on qyma@birralee.org or call (07) 3367 1001.

Thank you again for your participation in this exciting event and I look forward to a night filled with a lot of fun and great singing.

Kind regards,

Courtney

Instrumental Music

The school instrumental music program gives students foundational music skills that many then use to continue with music activities in high school and beyond. It’s always a delight to hear how former students are progressing with the musical journey they first started at Yeronga. On Wednesday evening I went to the Brisbane State High School Semester One strings concert and heard three former Yeronga State School students, Brian (violin), Darcy (cello) and Heather (Huong, violin) performing beautifully with the orchestras. It was also an unexpected surprise to hear one of the orchestras performing one of my own compositions! Yeronga State School graduate students are also performing with the Queensland Youth Orchestras (Ariel, violin) and the Young Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra (Indigo, viola) and one student I first started teaching at Yeronga in 2009 (Bella) is now a private violin teacher herself who tutors some of the current violin students at Yeronga.

Congratulations to Mackenzie M for achieving her Grade 1 AMEB certificate on cello!
